Congrats goes to Boston!

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Congratulations goes out to all Red Sox players and Fans around. I wished Colorado would have shown up for one game. Well actually they did, but it was for one game only. The Red Soxs played with such intensity (as well as they should have) they would have won anyway – because they were the best team in the series. But Soxs should have given up one game to the Rockies so they could celebrate at home.

Congrats to the Champs!

And an era comes to an end.

Mid summer many people have joked about the ending of Joe Torre’s career as the Yankee manager would come to an end. When the Yanks clinched the wild card the jokes died down a little. Just a little. After our loss the the Cleveland Indians the jokes resurfaced as a statement from Steinbrenner himself. “If you don’t win you’re out!” Who would have thunked it?

If I was a team owner who was looking for a manager to end their 14 YEAR loosing streak and was given a crystal ball to see 12 years into the future who would I pick?

Joe Torre took the Yanks to the playoffs in 12 straight years, half of those 12 he won the American league pennant, and one third of those 12 he won the World Series.

Joe man, you suck!

Nobody ever said George Steinbreener was smart, lucky but not smart. He offered Joe a minor league contract with incentives. Incentives? I doubt the winningest manager in the Yankees history needs incentives. Steinbrenner think so.

Do you think the Yanks could trade Steinbrenner for a owner yet to be announced? Personally I’m thinking about Peter Angelos. (I forgot, I was thinking about still winning! I recind my offer.)

So long Joe, you will be missed.

It is the end of a season for some…

And a continuation for others. As of last Monday, the Yanks packed it up after getting beat by a better team. And because of that loss Joe Torre might be released. That will be Steinbrenners decision alone. We can pick our teams, but we can’t pick our teams owners – just ask any Baltimore fan.

Yankees - game 4

We are out now and I had a couple of days to cry in my beer and am ready for a good match up. The two best pitchers (C.C. Sabathia and Josh Beckett) in the league are now going to match up. Both teams deserve to be there. I actually picked Cleveland to go to the series before Memorial day, but I am rooting for the Boston. (I have to go with my division: AL east.) Go Soxs!

Oh Yeah, there is no crying in baseball!
